  • the power of god's names

    By Tony Evans

Led by Katrina Bristol and Kim True

    Cost: $10

To fully grasp the significance and power of knowing God's names, you first need to understand the context of names within biblical cultures.  In Old Testament times, a name was a replica and revelation of the individual's character.  Because of God's depth of character, He has a variety of names to reflect His different capacities of relating to humanity.  God has a name for any and every situation you can find yourself in.  Get to know the names of God, because it is in knowing His character and His capacity that you will rest and discover both peace and power in His covenant care.

  • joseph: the journey to forgiveness

    By Melissa Spoelstra

Led by Joy Smith and Kathy Blades

    Cost: $10

All of us know what it's like to be hurt or betrayed.  This 6-week study explores what God has to say to us about grace and forgiveness through Joseph's story of trial and triumph found in Genesis 37-50.  As we study his dreams, his betrayers, his dysfunctional family, his struggle to forgive, and his journey toward reconciliation, we'll find truths that echo into our own personal situations, as well as practical help when it comes to dwelling on the the hurt, the difference between forgiving and excusing, and setting boundaries.  Whether or not you are working through a hurtful situation right now, you can learn how God wants to use the very things intended to hurt you as a source of blessing in your life and the lives of others.

  • 1 Peter: A living hope in christ

    By Jen Wilkin

Led by Lee Polk and Taby Rogers

    Cost: $10

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.  In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance.  He shares his concerns on big-picture issues for the early church, describes believers' identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ.  Key theme of humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 Peter as participants are challenged to read the book in its entirety each week.

  • what love is: the letters of 1, 2, 3 John

    By Kelly Minter

Led by Sherry Rist and Pat Dykes

    Cost: $10

The letters of 1, 2, and 3 John were written to encourage followers of Jesus to remain faithful to the truth.  Believers are challenged to look at contrasting themes, such as walking in the light instead of darkness, truth versus lies and deception, loving God more than the world, and the meaning of true fellowship and community rather than shallowness.  This study reveals not only the heart of John but also the heart of Jesus.

  • happiness

    By Randy Alcorn

Led by Kay Thompson and Beth Smith

    Cost:  $10

Christians are supposed to be happy -- in fact, we are supposed to radiate joy, peace, and contentment.  Yet, in today's culture, many Christians are perceived as angry, judgmental people who don't seem to derive any joy from life whatsoever.  Randy Alcorn dispels centuries of misconceptions about happiness and provides indisputable proof that God not only wants us to be happy but also commands it!  This is the definitive study on happiness to date and a paradigm-shifting wake-up call for the Church and Christians everywhere.

Women's missionary union (WMU)

In 1888, a handful of Baptist Women dedicated to the cause of missions founded WMU. Since that time, WMU has become the largest Protestant organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

Mount Zion has deep roots in WMU as well, forming their own WMU in 1914. We continue that tradition today with many age-level mission organizations. These organizations include Women on Mission, Girls of Grace Acteens, Girls in Action and Mission Friends.

For detailed information about WMU, contact Kenya Jernigan, MZBC WMU Director at kenya@posum.com

Women on Mission

Women on Mission for women ages 18 and up will equip Christian women to follow God’s call into missions’ awareness, action and advocacy. We pray toghether, fellowship and serve in missions.
