Women's Missionary Union

In 1888 a handful of Baptist Women dedicated to the cause of missions founded WMU. Since that time, WMU has become the largest Protestant organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

Mount Zion has deep roots in WMU as well, forming their own WMU in 1914. We continue that tradition today with many age-level mission organizations. These organizations include Women on Mission, Girls of Grace Acteens, Girls in Action and Mission Friends.

Solomon Says: Godly Counsel for Victorious Living by Cheryl D. Gangl

Led by Cheryl Gangl and Katrina Bristol

Cost: $8

Have you ever felt foolish and wished you had reacted differently in a difficult situation? Let’s face it. We all have done something at some point that we regretted, whether it was letting our anger get out of control, saying something we should have kept to ourselves or letting jealousy get the best of us. The book of Proverbs touches on these subjects and others, and provides wisdom through short sayings that bring godly counsel to life. If you want to live victoriously as God intended, this 10-week study will give you an opportunity to evaluate the areas in which you struggle and why you struggle, and explain how you can overcome them. Find refreshment in your spiritual life as you treasure hunt the book of Proverbs to seek wisdom, renew your relationship with the Lord and learn to live victoriously daily with Him.

All Things New by Kelly Minter

Led by Sherry Rist and Pat Dykes

Cost: $10

The city of ancient Corinth was much like our own modern-day cities: a melting pot of electrifying cultural experiences to be had, along with the myriad pitfalls of spiritual depravity. Still, Paul wrote to the church of God in Corinth; this tells us that God’s church is meant to thrive in any city and every circumstance in which we find ourselves. Paul’s letter is as timely as ever.

Kelly Minter will lead you through the Letter of 2 Corinthians, exploring the anchoring truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, opening wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the New Covenant. Each of us has a message to proclaim and live by: Because of Jesus the old has gone, the new has come.

Redeemed: Grace to Live Every Day Better Than Before by Angela Thomas-Pharr

led by Lee Polk and Taby Rogers

Cost: $10

The moment you accept Jesus as the Lord over your life, you are redeemed. As the redeemed, we experience a lifelong journey of being transformed into HIs image. As redeemed women, we grow in the grace of Christ, and He calls us to extend grace to others.

In this 7-session Bible study, Angela Thomas-Pharr explores the practical side of redemption, inviting us to lean upon Jesus for our real help and hope.

The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer

led by Kay Thompson and Beth Smith

Cost: $10

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, The Armor of God study is for you. The Enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

Apples of Gold

Led by Jenny Bachmann

Titus 2:3-5 provides a beautiful picture of older women teaching younger women how to live godly lives. This example is lived out in Apples of Gold, a women’s mentoring program that includes practical cooking demonstrations, fellowship and Bible study focusing on:

Kindness • Loving your husband • Loving your children

Purity • Submission • Hospitality

Small groups meet with mentors during the months of August and September.

Each session includes a cooking demonstration, dinner, Bible study and discussion with a group of mentors. The study book cost is $8, and there is a minimal food cost per session.

Apples of Gold is not yet scheduled for this year. Updates will be made as information is received.
